Nitoy's Toronto visit , part 3

Nitoy Lopez '65

My apologies for having taken so long to continue to share our wonderful trip to Toronto in preparation for OtsoOtso.

WALKING TOUR of TORONTO: After a bottle of wine, Rogie took us on a walking tour of Toronto. His house is mid-city that we literally started the tour the moment we walked out of his house.

It was a pleasant day in Toronto. It's the first spring weather after the thaw that Torontonians were out in droves –many in shorts and midriff baring tops.
Aug. 8 would even be warmer weather that I expect to see Torontonians continue to enjoy warm weather in this manner.

We passed through many of the sidewalk offerings in Chinatown as well as restaurants too tempting to halt the tour and step right in to one of them. I heard Chuggie asked for the best soup place and Ka Roger for the best dimsum place. Billy Jack and I could hardly care whether we ended up souping or dimsuming for lunch. I just knew it would be a delicious treat.

Rogie was animated as he pointed here and there landmarks of Toronto. I can honestly say that Alfie'67 notes on Toronto was a copy of Rogie's narrations. I couldn't write it any better than what Alfie did. So, I'll refer you to his posting on Toronto. What I can say tho is that KaRoger, Billy Jack and Chuggie and I were really impressed with the many offerings of Toronto, in food, culture, sports, shopping, theatre, sightseeing and just plain enjoying the beautiful Lake Ontario bounding the east side of Toronto.

After a long walk, we stopped for coffee at where else, Starbucks. We sipped coffee at their sidewalk café and enjoyed the sights of passer bys. We continued on our walking tour and this time clamoring down into Toronto's subterranean city. What an infrastructure! In the harsh of winter, you can literally move from building to building and do all your shopping without ever having to put on your coat.
I found more selections for shopping here than I've found in all of Richmond, VA.

We emerged from this magical city and took Toronto's public transport. It's a mix of subway trains, trolley cars and outright busses. You can go anywhere in Toronto without having to drive yourself. We got off to go to the Tower. The Tower is the tallest free standing structure in the universe. We went to the highest floor our elevator took us, which was only about half of the way. The view from up there was just spectacular. It was a clear day that you can see the mist of Niagara Falls. And we saw the third floor veranda of Rogie where we spent the night drinking wine and enjoying an evening in Toronto. Rogie took us to an area where the floor is transparent glass.
Everyone panic to step on the glass, except me. I jumped right onto it and danced as I enjoyed the sights from below. We retired to a café. Rogie urged us to take the elevator to the highest floor possible.
Again, I was the only one who took the challenge. I took the elevator and in a rapid ascent, I began to feel the sway. It was windy that day and the thin tubelike structure the rest of the way was only big enough to accommodate an elevator. When I got off the elevator, I couldn't recognize the sights below. Among the clouds, they all looked like ants. Now, I could view the total expanse of Toronto. It's a big city indeed.

We came down and walked back to Chinatown to have lunch. Dimsum won the day. And there couldn't be any regrets. It was a very delicious and affordable fare.
I could eat here everyday and still have money left to see Sith.

I'll continue my installment next time.
